Synopsis
This media literacy lesson includes two clips from documentaries about flooding and climate change, discussion questions, and tips for decoding media.
Students will see presentations about the impacts of sea level rise on human communities from "Before the Flood" and "How to Let Go of the World and Love All Things That Climate Can't Change."
Students may recognize the films or some of the actors.
There is a guide to decoding media included.

Differentiation
This lesson can be used to introduce an ELA lesson about perspective and audience when writing or presenting.
Science classes can integrate this lesson into topics such as the water cycle, global change, or properties of water.
Social studies classes could use this resource to expand a lesson about the social impacts of climate change, human migration due to climate change, or the unequal effects of climate change around the world.
