Our Partners

We envision a world where everyone feels empowered to take action in solving climate change. To create this future, climate action begins in the classroom.

Founding Partners

We are on a mission to make climate change teaching and learning accessible to all. By enabling educators from all subjects and grade levels to teach about climate change, we believe that the next generation will be inspired to take climate action.

The Maine Environmental Education Association (MEEA) is a statewide network that advances culturally competent environmental education learning opportunities for all Maine people. MEEA believes that equitable access to climate and environmental education is essential to building healthy, just, and sustainable Maine communities. Historically, safe access to the outdoors and environmental learning has excluded communities of color, low-income families and people with disabilities. At the same time, the field of environmental education is an overwhelmingly white workforce. We recognize, name and actively work to change these dynamics to advance equity in environmental education. Learners of all ages, from infancy through adulthood, can benefit from the connection to and understanding of our environments that comes from environment and climate education. Implementing climate and environmental education into every school day can build the foundation for lifelong engagement. MEEA works to provide resources to educators to support their work ensuring every child has access to powerful environmental learning opportunities in their prek-12 experience. Environmental education is core to a well-rounded education and can be integrated into and elevate understanding of all subjects, from math to science, from literature to the arts. The Maine Climate Hub is an important tool to ensure access for all educators in the state to free, vetted, interdisciplinary resources to advance climate literacy, MEEA is proud to be a founding partner of this critical resource.
