Teach ME Outside

Teach ME Outside is a collaborative project that supports and works in partnership with Maine communities to ensure that all Maine youth have access to powerful, hands-on environmental learning opportunities.

Our Story

The Maine Climate Education Hub Initiative is a collaborative effort of individuals and organizations in Maine developing an online hub of standards-aligned educational resources to support Maine educators in incorporating climate literacy into their curriculum. This project is led nationally by SubjectToClimate and locally by the Maine Environmental Education Association. We are launching the Maine Hub by back-to-school 2023 to further the Maine Department of Education’s Environmental Literacy Plan and support schools in advancing climate literacy. Our goal is to make it easier for Maine educators of all grade levels and subjects to teach about climate change so their students will have access to powerful climate education throughout their lives.

Our Team

The Maine hub was collaboratively developed with a team of dedicated and passionate individuals from Maine, ensuring the hub embodies local needs and expertise.

Carey Hotaling

Carey Hotaling is a life-long environmental educator.  She started her professional work in non-profit environmental organizations, and then became a middle school science and English teacher.  Empowering students with solutions and "noticing" what is happening right outside the school drove her teaching related to climate change.  Educating about climate change is a passion that continues during the third chapter of her career.. Email Carey with any questions you may have regarding our Maine State Hub!
