Synopsis
Introduce younger students to many of the concepts and topics related to climate change and the environment through this read-along video, narrated by the author Loll Kirby.
All of the short stories are about real students taking action to solve an environmental issue in their community.
Students will hear stories from Germany, India, Britain, Indonesia, South Africa, the USA, France, Kenya, Ukraine, and Australia.
This book covers many topics that could be explored further, and each individual story could be used separately.
The illustrations are colorful and engaging.
Prerequisites
Loll Kirby is an Australian author. You may need to clarify some words that are not commonly used in American English (such as lorries) or that may be hard to hear.
The words on the book are not always visible at the time that the author is reading them.
Differentiation & Implementation
The stories could be incorporated into activities such as growing plants from seeds, starting a garden, encouraging students to carpool or ride a bike to school, or having a lights out day.
Connections could be made to lessons about human health, biodiversity loss, water quality, air pollution, and deforestation.
