Synopsis
- This collection of brief video statements showcases the climate action of young people around the world in their own words, providing inspiration for students to take their own actions.
- Students can use the interactive map to watch stories from specific areas of interest or filter the videos by the type of solution.
- The videos are each under 5 minutes in length.
Teaching Materials
Positives
- Hearing the stories of other young people shows students they have the power to make a difference and students can create and upload their own videos to this project.
- The videos allow students to hear the different reasons why people all over the world are concerned about climate change and how their lives have been impacted.
Prerequisites
- Students will need a computer and headphones to watch the videos.
- If students are to upload their own videos, they will need a phone to record the video.
Differentiation & Implementation
- These videos could be used for a jigsaw activity, with groups of students investigating different regions of the world and comparing and contrasting the impacts of climate change.
- In the science class, these videos could be used to discuss solutions to human impacts on the environment.
- In a social studies class, these videos could be used to jumpstart brainstorming when used with our Civics Lesson: Climate Action Plan.
- In an ELA or art class, students could write scripts and record their own videos.
- Alternatively, students could interview a member of their community who takes climate action.
This resource features a collection of testimonials from a diverse group of people from around the world engaged in climate change solutions. All of these videos feature relatable people, thus empowering viewers to do the same. A share tab is also included where personal stories can be shared with Project Drawdown. This resource is recommended for teaching.
