Synopsis
- In this hands-on learning module, students will learn about the different types of clouds from a storybook, get outside to make observations, complete experiments and coloring activities, and learn about the weather associated with each type.
- The module includes printable worksheets, teacher notes, access to the digital book, and a glossary.

Additional Prerequisites
- Directions for accessing the ebook on an Apple device ask the reader to use the iBooks app, which does not seem to work the way the instructions would imply.
- Students should know the five senses and how to use them to observe nature.
- Students should know the terms altitude and precipitation.
Differentiation
- Language arts students can make connections when describing the clouds and weather. Teachers can encourage students to use rich descriptive language to help someone picture the scene without seeing it.
- Teachers can extend the lesson to learn about the role of clouds in the water cycle, the necessity of cloud observation and weather forecasting, especially as extreme weather events become increasingly more common, or contrail research and how contrails contribute to climate change.
- Have students label the different types of clouds on Coloring Page A after they have colored it.
- Students can routinely observe clouds and record data about the frequency of certain clouds in their area over time.
