Synopsis

  • This lesson explores interconnectedness across Native cultures, using the Diné story of Spider Woman, to show how staying connected to the land and to each other makes communities resilient.

  • Students will map their personal points of connection in their community, and then draw visionary maps of a future community built around collective care, food sovereignty, and ecological health during this 45-minute lesson.

  • The lesson also includes terms for connectedness and harmony with the natural world from Diné, Lakota, Anishinaabe, Maya, Quechua, and Nguni cultures.
