Synopsis
This interactive resource provides updated information about climate actions and investments throughout Maine and updates on various sustainability goals set by the state.
Each goal provides a graph of the annual progress towards the goal and the map provides details about each project or grant.
The map shows the approximate location of green projects and funding for green energy projects.
Students can track the progress of projects such as home weatherization, heat pump installations, and community resilience programs.
Additional Prerequisites
Students should have a basic understanding of how energy use can create greenhouse gas emissions.
You may need to zoom in before clicking on the different icons on the map in order to see them all.
Differentiation
Economics classes can discuss the effects of tax incentives, grants, and discounts on low-energy appliances, weatherization products, and renewable energy technology to households and the economy.
Science classes can discuss the climate benefits of conserving land that protects the ecosystem services, forests, grasslands, or other natural environments.
This resource can be used in math classes that are practicing making and reading graphs or that are learning how to analyze data gathered over time.
This could be a great bell-ringer for classes discussing state initiatives that support green jobs, green energy, or energy efficiency.
